Monthly Highlights of Board Actions – December 2024

As part of the District’s Values, YCCD embraces transparency and clear, honest communication. The Monthly Highlights intends to communicate to the District community major approval actions the Board takes at the monthly Board meetings. Swearing in of Trustees 
Trustee Teagarden administered the Oath of Office to Trustees Dennise Burbank, John Cassidy, William (Bill) Cornelius, Jose Garcia, and Douglas Harris.   

 

Annual Organization Meeting 
Annually, in December, the Board formally establishes the leadership structure for the upcoming year. At the meeting, the Board voted on the following:  

  • President: Richard Teagarden 
  • Vice President: William (Bill) Cornelius 
  • Clerk: Douglas Harris 
  • Confirmed the Chancellor as the Board Secretary 
  • Approved: Authorization of Chancellor to Sign Orders on the Funds of the District and District Warrants for 2025 
  • Approved: Verification of Signatures and Occupations of Member of the Governing Board 
  • Approved: 2025 Calendar of Regular Board Meetings 

 

Special Recognition:  
YCCD Employee Spotlight – Maria Ruiz, Yuba College, Student Services Specialist 

 

Adopted Resolution: 
The Board adopted the following resolution:  

  • Continuing Resolution Recognizing and Honoring the Legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

  • Personnel Consent Agenda 
  • Ratification Agenda 
  • Monthly Financial Statement 
  • Monthly Warrants 
  • Woodland Community College Curriculum 
  • Yuba College Curriculum 
  • Resolution Approving Trustee Absence 
  • Trustee Conference Travel 

 

Approval Actions 

  • Approved: Extension of Employment of the Interim Director of TRiO at Woodland Community College: Maria Garcia Gonzalez 
  • Approved: School/Campus Resource Officer with Yuba County Sheriff’s Department 
  • Approved: Appointment of Citizens’ Bond Oversight Committee (CBOC) Member: Greg Forest 
  • Approved: 2025 California Community College Trustee (CCCT) Board Nomination: Jesse Ortiz 

 

Next Board Meeting 
The next regularly scheduled meeting of the Governing Board is January 9, 2025 at Yuba College, 2088 N. Beale Rd. Marysville 95901.
